Happy Monday – Hallelujah

December 11, 2017

Hallelujah as some might say…

Glubb not only get a rare Monday evening 3 points, but also leapfrog Fortuna Düsseldorf into second place, level on points with leaders Kiel.

FCN made hard work of it in the first half against a Fortuna team who played with the determination and desperation of a club without a win since October. The hosts failed to make the most of their chances, even with the help of the referee who was determined to book every Nuremberg player who went near a Dusseldorf man.

The second half was a different story – FCN played the best football, often expansive going forward, and tight in defence on the odd occasion on which Fortuna threatened. Goals from Tobias Werner (67) and Georg Margreitter (77) looked to have sealed the victory for Nuremberg, although a ridiculous decision from the referee to award Düsseldorf a penalty late on looked set to spoil the party. Justice however was done as Fabian Bredlow saved well.

At the midpoint of the season, this is just what all Glubberer hoped for. With the best away record in the league, a little more composure in the Max Morlock Stadion will surely see FCN continuing to push for automatic promotion in May.

F95 0 Glubb 2 – Well done FCN. Hallelujah indeed…
