Back to the important football

June 29, 2012

Now the sideshow of Euro 2012 is all but over, life can return to normal and our focus can return to the main attraction – 1.FC Nuremberg.

And what better way to capture our attention than the 2012-13 Bundesliga fixtures which were announced on 26th June.

Opening the season in Hamburg will be a tough challenge for FCN – surely HSV cannot have a season as bad as the last (they finished 15th). Hopefully 1FCNUK can reverse our own fortunes and witness a victory live in the stadium (it has been many matches since that last happened) as several members fly to the Hanseatic city for the weekend.

Next up comes another tricky looking game (if you will forgive the understatement of the century) as champions Dortmund visit the Frankenstadion, before Glubb then travel to Moenchengladbach for game three. There will be no surprise if the ‘experts’ predict that FCN will get nothing from the first three games. Dieter Hecking, his new look squad, and all Glubberer will be a little more optimistic.

Other noteworthy fixtures are the back-to-back derby games against Bayern Munich (h) and Fuerth (a) in November, and the reverse meetings in April.

The two final games of the season – Fortuna Duesseldorf (a) and Werder Bremen (h) are both set for Saturdays (11th and 18th May). Expect to see 1FCNUK at at least one of these end of season fixtures to witness Glubb become Deutschermeister (or at least hopefully avoid dropping down to the second division).

Just reading the book about 1. FCNUK… thanks for sharing your story and your opinion. As being located in Erlangen at the moment and having a traineeship in Nürnberg I might see your UK/FCN flag one day and having a chat (and/or beer) with you guys.
